Transit Workers Center

Walking is the best. Bicycling is pretty awesome. But sometimes we need something… faster. We imagine a future of sustainably powered electric mass transit getting us across town in a flash. The crew who keeps the buses and trains running need a convenient place to convivially commiserate. We found just the spot.

This is an imagining of The Land Office a project of the Imaginal Services Bureaux which is in turn a project of Cooperation Humboldt. We are imagining the most just use of property for sale in Humboldt County. This is a work of art. You can read our Principles or just read on…

Across the street from the Humboldt Transit Authority office is this cool permaculture center waiting to be built up. Some people have dreams of being public servants. Good on them. Being a bus driver isn’t the most glamorous job, but these folks are heroes in our eyes. This place is for them.

The Humboldt Transit Authority is on the way to this bright future with the fleet of new electric buses. Good on them. Surprisingly, there is little press on this development. We had a link to see the electric bus in action, but it was broken.

Where bus drivers go to unwind after a long four hour shift…

As technology continues to innovate, you will certainly be able to call up a single seat hover car to get you from the water front to the Community Forest Retreat, but why would you pass up on the opportunity to visit with neighbors or just take a moment to reflect on how you can best serve humanity? Buses or trains serve more than just the purpose of getting us places; they also bring us together whether chit chatting or not.

After a long four hour workday, the folks who keep those buses and trains moving can saunter across the street and pursue whatever other pursuit calls to them. Maybe they will garden in that fabulous permaculture garden in the backyard, can some soup in the kitchen, work in the printmaking room, or just take a nap in a sleep pod.

Let’s imagine a world where all workers have a well lit, rejuvenating, communal space to recharge and find the best solutions to the problems that face us.
